Day 1
The High Cost of Misalignment
Based off the message: “Mindset Makeover: Phase 4 - Alignment” by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Scripture
"Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God"- Romans 12:2
Devotional
Devotional: Your car has four tires. Ideally, all four tires should match: the same brand, size, tread, and pattern. Problems occur when your wheels are misaligned. When your wheels are out of alignment, you tend to drift, pulling left or right. Your steering wheel becomes crooked, resulting in a shaky driving experience. Rolling resistance forces your engine to burn more fuel, and extra stress damages your suspension and drivetrain, resulting in expensive repairs.
First natural, then spiritual: many of us are living our lives out of alignment. Like a car with misaligned wheels, we’re moving forward, but the journey is shaky and stressful. We burn through our emotional and spiritual fuel at an alarming rate because we are fighting constant, unseen resistance. We wonder why we are so exhausted, stressed by things that shouldn’t have power over us. We are supposed to have access to the peace of God that surpasses all understanding, yet we live with a low-grade anxiety.
When Jesus said, “Do not worry,” He spoke it as a command, not a suggestion. Do you treat the promises of God as platitudes rather than realities? When we fail to take Jesus at His word, we are out of alignment. Getting back into alignment isn't about trying harder; it’s about surrendering to the One who can straighten us out. The good news is that the Master Mechanic is available for your next pit stop. He doesn’t just patch the problem; He renews our minds, allowing us to test and approve His good, pleasing, and perfect will. A truly renewed mind is properly aligned with the will of God.
"Sometimes the stress we’re carrying isn’t because life is too heavy; it’s because we’ve been trying to carry it without being aligned with God. When our minds are renewed and our lives are surrendered to Him, we can stop fighting against His will and start walking in His peace." - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Reflection Question
In what ways have we become accustomed to living with spiritual stress that comes from misalignment?
Prayer
Father, we confess that we often live out of alignment with You, which contributes to our spiritual exhaustion. We are tired of drifting through life. Realign our hearts and minds so that we can drive the straight and narrow path You have established for us. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
