Day 1: Divine Provision Through Obedience
Message: "She Ate... and So Will You" by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"It shall be that you will drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there." - 1 Kings 17:4
Devotional: Have you ever felt like your resources were running dry? Like there wasn't enough to make ends meet? In these moments, it's easy to panic or try to solve everything on our own. But God's economy works differently than ours. When we choose to trust and obey Him, even with our limited resources, He opens doors we never knew existed. Just like Elijah at the brook Cherith, God has a plan for our provision that might look different than what we expect. The key isn't in having abundant resources, but in being obedient with what we have right now.
Quote: "When the math is not "mathing", rely on God's Math: Obedience to God = Divine Provision" - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: What is God asking you to do with the resources you currently have, even if it seems small or insufficient?
Prayer: Father, give me the courage to be obedient with what You've given me, even when it doesn't seem like enough. Help me trust Your provision and follow Your leading. Amen.
Day 2: Beyond Temporary Solutions
Message: "She Ate... and So Will You" by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"It happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land." - 1 Kings 17:7
Devotional: Sometimes we get comfortable with temporary resources - that part-time job that was supposed to be temporary, that loan that was meant to be short-term, or that living situation that wasn't meant to be permanent. While God often uses temporary measures to help us through difficult seasons, He doesn't want us to become dependent on them. He has greater plans and provisions ahead. When one source of provision ends, it might be God's way of moving us toward His next step of blessing.
Quote: "Don’t develop permanent dependency on temporary sources" - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: What temporary resources in your life might God be transitioning you from so that He can lead you to something better?
Prayer: Lord, help me not to cling to temporary provisions when You're trying to lead me to something better. Give me wisdom to recognize when it's time to move forward in faith. Amen.
Day 3: Divine Connections
Message: "She Ate... and So Will You" by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith" - Galatians 6:9-10
Devotional: God often works through relationships and connections to bring about His provision. Sometimes the answer to our prayers isn't a direct deposit from heaven, but a divine appointment with someone who becomes an instrument of God's blessing. These connections might come through unexpected encounters, community involvement, or simply being faithful in our daily responsibilities. When we stay engaged with others and maintain a servant's heart, we position ourselves for God's provision through relationships.
Quote: "Some of us need to get off of the couch & start gathering sticks. While the widow was gathering sticks for her last meal, she met a man who would change her life." - Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: How are you cultivating relationships and staying connected to community, even in times of need?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, open my eyes to see the divine connections You're orchestrating in my life. Help me to be faithful in serving others, knowing You often work through relationships to bring blessing. Amen.
Day 4:God's Perfect Timing
Message: "She Ate... and So Will You" by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."-Philippians 4:19
Devotional: Waiting for God's provision can test our patience and faith. When bills are due and resources are scarce, it's tempting to question God's timing. But God's delays are not denials. He sees our needs and works behind the scenes, often in ways we can't perceive. Just as He prepared provision for Elijah before the prophet even knew he would need it, God is already working on our behalf. His timing might not match our schedule, but it's always perfect.
Quote: "When you are certain that you are doing what God told you to do, expect Him to show up at just the right time."- Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: What situation in your life requires trusting God's timing rather than trying to force your own solution?
Prayer: Lord, help me trust Your timing, even when I can't see how things will work out. Give me patience to wait for Your perfect provision. Amen.
Day 5: Taking Action in Faith
Message: "She Ate... and So Will You" by Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."- James 2:17
Devotional: While waiting for God's provision, we're not called to passive inaction. Faith often requires us to take steps forward, even when we can't see the full path ahead. This might mean creating a budget, applying for jobs, or reaching out to make new connections. When we take action with what we have, while staying aligned with God's principles, we participate in His provision process. Remember, even small steps of faith can lead to significant breakthrough.
Quote: "Take the little bit that you have and do something with it."- Pastor Dexter B. Upshaw Jr.
Question: What practical step of faith is God asking you to take today with the resources He's already given you?
Prayer
Father, give me wisdom to know what steps to take and courage to move forward in faith. Help me be a good steward of what You've already provided while trusting You for more. Amen.
