Say His Name: Five Day Devotional

Day 1: The Miracle of the Incarnation

Reading: Matthew 1:18-25

Message: "Say His Name"

Devotional: As we reflect on the miraculous birth of Jesus, we're reminded of God's incredible love for humanity. Mary's unexpected pregnancy, Joseph's initial doubt, and the divine intervention through an angel all point to the extraordinary nature of Christ's arrival. Today, consider how God may be working in unexpected ways in your own life. Are there situations where you need to trust in God's plan, even when it doesn't make sense? Pray for the faith to embrace God's will, just as Mary and Joseph did.

Day 2: The Power of His Name

Reading: Philippians 2:5-11

Message: "Say His Name"

Devotional: "You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." The name of Jesus carries immense power and significance. It represents salvation, hope, and God's presence with us. Today, meditate on the name of Jesus. Speak it aloud, pray it silently, write it down. Let the power of His name permeate your thoughts and actions. How can you honor the name of Jesus in your daily life? Consider ways to make His name known to others through your words and deeds.

Day 3: Christ in Every Season

Reading: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Message: "Say His Name"

Devotional: While we celebrate Christ's birth at Christmas, His impact on our lives is not limited to one season. Pastor Dexter's message reminds us that we can celebrate Jesus every day. Reflect on how you can make Christ the center of your life throughout the year. Are there "secular" aspects of your life that could be infused with spiritual significance? Pray for guidance in seeing Christ in every season and situation of your life.

Day 4: Standing Firm in Faith

Reading: 1 Peter 3:13-17

Message: "Say His Name"

Devotional: The story of Bishop John Fisher reminds us that faith often requires courage in the face of opposition. Even while imprisoned, he wished his persecutors a "Merry Christmas." This exemplifies Christ's command to love our enemies. Today, consider the challenges to your faith. Are there areas where you need to stand firm? Pray for the strength to maintain your convictions with grace and love, even in difficult circumstances.

Day 5: The Gospel in Everyday Life

Reading: Colossians 3:12-17

Message: "Say His Name"

Devotional: Pastor Dexter's message shows how even common traditions can point to Christ when viewed through the lens of faith. As you go about your day, look for ways to infuse your routine activities with spiritual significance. How can your work, your relationships, or your leisure time reflect the gospel? Pray for eyes to see Christ in the ordinary and for opportunities to share His love in simple, everyday ways. Remember, whatever you do, do it all in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
